Join Our Board: Shape the Future of Peterborough Community Health Centre

The Peterborough Community Health Centre (CHC) is a provincially funded, community-led, not-for-profit organization that addresses our region's critical healthcare needs. As a new and innovative CHC, we are committed to providing essential healthcare support to Peterborough’s most vulnerable populations while championing Indigenous health practices and creating an inclusive healthcare environment.

This is an exciting time for the Peterborough CHC as we build our staff, establish our physical location, foster program partnerships, and develop a governance model that reflects the diverse communities we serve. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors and play a key role in guiding the future of our organization.

Who We Are
Aaniin. Boozhoo. We are a dedicated group of Nogojiwanong locals committed to improving healthcare for the entire community. As we continue to grow, we are building a shared governance model that embraces both Indigenous and Western health practices, serving the people of Michi Saagig Anishnaabeg territory.

Who We're Looking For
We are currently seeking new Board members to volunteer approximately 4-6 hours per month. This commitment includes board meetings, committee participation, and preparatory work.

Ideal candidates will share our passion for local health initiatives and actively contribute to developing and implementing our shared governance model. We especially welcome individuals who can help build an example of reconciliation between Indigenous and Western healthcare practices.

We strongly value the diversity of lived experiences and cultural backgrounds and encourage applications from individuals with the following attributes:

• Younger individuals (under 35 years old)

• Members of the Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ communities

• First Nations, Métis, Inuit

• Racialized individuals

• Immigrants or refugees

• Individuals with personal or professional experience in mental health, addiction, poverty, or chronic illness

Skills and Experience We’re Seeking
To strengthen our Board, we are particularly looking for individuals with experience in:

• Healthcare or social services

• Board governance

• Finance & accounting

• Fundraising & philanthropy

• Community engagement & communications

• Legal expertise
